Swift SE & GL Automatic Models Provide More Choice

Two new versions of the top-selling Suzuki Swift 5-door hatchback have been added to the New Zealand range.

A highly specified, special edition Swift SE has been introduced while an automatic transmission option becomes available for the first time on the entry-level Swift GL.

The new SE is fitted with a rear upper spoiler, silver door handles, leather covered steering wheel with silver stitching, sports-type tail lamps, silver coloured seat panel fabric and Bluetooth connectivity.

Available in six exterior colours the SE has a recommended retail price of $22,990 for the 5-speed manual and $24,500 for the auto version.

Front fog lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels with 185/55R16 tyres, trip computer, six speaker tuner/CD/MP3/WMA stereo and driver’s seat height adjuster are standard.

The range-starting Swift GL manual is now sharply priced at $19,990 or $21,990 with the newly offered automatic transmission, both prices include all on road costs. All Swifts have the highest possible 5-Star Euro NCAP safety rating and include ABS with EBD, ESP, seven airbags and TECT strengthened body design.

When the new generation Swift was introduced in 2011 it was one of the top ten safest cars introduced worldwide during the year.

The highly efficient K14B twin overhead camshaft engine has an electronic throttle along with clever engine management to enable it to run on 91 octane petrol with a relatively high compression ratio.

The Swift continues as New Zealand’s most popular new car to private buyers and second overall best-selling new car.

Last year Swift sales rose 15.5 per cent over 2011 to a record 3,316, continuing a long-held position as the top selling small car in New Zealand.

“The Swift is maintaining its strong local popularity because of its style and value for money,” said Tom Peck, General Manager of Marketing for Suzuki New Zealand. “Not only that, it is a car with character and is both fun to drive and economical.”

Swift is a key element in the Suzuki success story. In 2012 Suzuki produced 2,893,602 cars world-wide, a 6.1 per cent increase on the previous year. Domestic production in Japan was up 11.8 per cent while Suzuki also posted a 22.9 per cent increase in the sale of its small cars.

Like other Suzuki models in New Zealand, all new Swifts benefit from a free three year or 45,000 kilometre service offer plus an extended five year/120,000 kilometre new vehicle warranty. This is being applied to all new Suzuki automobiles purchased in March and April.
