Sporty Looking Suzuki Swift XS4 Arrives in New Zealand
The new five-door Suzuki Swift XS4 hatchback is based on the mainstream version of this iconic car and comes with a host of standard features appealing to owners who want to make a statement.
In place of standard road wheels, the XS4 is immediately distinguished by bold ten-spoke Custom HRS aluminium alloy wheels. Finished in black and silver, these sports wheels have brushed triangular faces with Suzuki branded centres, and are fitted with well respected Bridgestone MY02 tyres.
A black European inspired body kit comprises a roof-end spoiler, wheel arch mouldings, lower body and door mouldings and front and rear lower bumper graphics.
Remarkably, while the array of standard fitment accessories on the XS4 is valued at almost $4,000, this model carries the same retail price as the Swift GLX on which it has been developed.
“This makes the XS4 outstanding value for money, while providing a level of distinctiveness for the nation’s top-selling light car,” said Gary Collins, General Manager of Motor Vehicle Marketing for Suzuki New Zealand Ltd.
The latest Swift variant is available in red, white or blue and carries a recommended retail price of $22,500 in five-speed manual gearbox form, and $23,990 for the four-speed electronic automatic, plus on-road costs.
Despite its keen price, the Swift XS4 is well equipped, and the specification includes air conditioning, cruise control, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, tilt adjustable steering, a leather-covered steering wheel, electric windows and door mirrors, six-speaker tuner with CD/MP3/WMA system with USB input and Bluetooth hands-free connectivity.
It is also an extremely safe small car, with the highest possible five star EuroNCAP safety rating and seven air bags, including a driver’s knee air bag. Anti-lock brakes, and an electronic stability programme (ESP) are also standard.
The Swift has been a huge success story in New Zealand, with more than 50,000 of them now on local roads. Not only has it been the top selling super-mini for a decade, but it is also one of the most popular used import models.
“With its fuel-efficient variable valve 1.4-litre twin overhead camshaft engine, the Swift provides real-world economy, while it also handles well and has good grip and body control,” says Gary Collins. “Now we are offering a striking looking variant likely to appeal to an even wider range of motorists, adding yet further charisma to what is Suzuki’s fastest selling car.”
The high performance 1.6 litre Sport remains as the flagship model in the range of Swift models, and entry-level 1.4 litre GL models are available from as little as $18,990 plus on-road costs.
