Whānau Āwhina Plunket
Making a difference
Whānau Āwhina Plunket's mission is to make a difference of a lifetime in the first 1,000 days.
Established in 1907, they've been helping babies and supporting new mothers through a nationwide community-based network for well over 100 years.
Plunket has touched the lives of generations of Kiwis, providing reassurance and advice to parents and families during an often overwhelming time. Today Plunket sees around 85% of all newborn babies in Aotearoa. They provide free health and development checks, a 24/7 parenting helpline, and a range of local services including everything from antenatal classes to car safety seat installation.
Thousands of Kiwis give their time, knowledge, skills and energy to Plunket's programmes all around the country. It's an incredible network and New Zealand's largest support service for the health and wellbeing of children under-five and their families.
Whānau Āwhina Plunket CE, Amanda Malu says they're excited to be working with Suzuki.
"Our nurses and community staff need reliable, safe and economical cars for when they're out in our communities, and the Swifts are a great addition to our fleet."
While some services receive government funding, Plunket is a charity. So community services such as parenting education, parent groups, toy libraries and family centres rely on donations, partners like Suzuki, and volunteers.
