2026 GSX-R1000R
Designed to Perform. Built to Thrill.
The GSX-R1000 is synonymous with performance, reliability and pure riding fun. Performance that has led to countless victories in production-based superbike, superstock and endurance races worldwide. That includes no fewer than 15 FIM Endurance World Championship titles since the model’s release in 2001.
2025 marks the 40th anniversary of the GSX-R family, and it’s been close to a quarter of a century since the GSX-R1000 debuted, changing the sportbike class forever. While the riding environment has witnessed significant change over that time, the GSX-R1000 has continued to evolve and represent the pinnacle of sportbike potential, both on the road and the racetrack.
To stay ahead of the curve and meet modern standards, updates to the GSX-R1000 include those to comply with the latest emissions and noise regulations. All this while maintaining the winning potential for which the GSX-R1000 is famed.
Additional updates aim to elevate the riding experience by introducing advanced electronic control systems designed to assist the rider by tailoring the bike’s performance to personal preferences and to optimise handling for various riding conditions.
The GSX-R1000 comes fully equipped for the street, but remove the mirrors, license plate, and tape the lights, and it’s ready for closed-course action.
Every GSX-R1000 carries the relentless spirit of a race winner, with each pulse beckoning you to experience a machine that’s "Designed to Perform, Built to Thrill."
Arriving Q3 2026.

Features
Engine Features:
- High-performance 999.8cm³ four-stroke liquid-cooled DOHC inline-four engine is the most powerful and hardest accelerating engine in the GSX-R family.
- Simple, compact and light, the centrifugally operated SR-VVT system is built into the intake cam sprocket and an adjacent guide plate, adding significantly to power at the high end.
- The Suzuki Racing Finger follower valve train system improves valve control and allows higher rpm.
- Alongside primary full-time injectors per throttle body, a secondary set of four Suzuki Top Feed Injectors (S-TFI) sprays fuel directly into the intake funnels at higher RPMs, enhancing combustion efficiency, throttle response, and top-end power.
- The number of holes for the primary fuel injectors was changed from ten to eight holes.
- Modified cylinder head and both intake and exhaust ports for higher efficiency.
- Revised head gasket shape to improve durability.
- The piston heads were reshaped to increase the compression ratio from 13.2:1 to 13.8:1 and accommodate the increased valve diameter.
- Forged aluminium pistons feature short skirts, cutaway sides, and DLC-coated wrist pins to reduce friction.
- A change to the rib shape on the underside of the piston heads reduces weight and contributes to durability.
- The piston circlips are made of a new material that improves durability.
- The introduction of a wider new cam chain helps reduce friction loss.
- New single-stage funnel shapes (#1 and #4) contribute to improved high-RPM output.
- Crankshaft redesigned with thicker journals to support higher loads; crankcase also reengineered accordingly.
- Camshaft lubrication now uses an intermittent lubrication scheme.
- The exhaust system includes a slimmer muffler design
- The Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) works as an assist clutch to make the lever easier to pull while transmitting the power output, reducing fatigue on long touring.
Chassis Features:
- Compact, lightweight chassis delivers quick response and agility, boosting rider confidence in acceleration, cornering, and braking.
- Twin-spar aluminium frame offers rigidity and nimble handling.
- Race-inspired aluminium swingarm is braced on both sides with optimised rigidity for superior racetrack performance.
- Bolt-on rear subframe made from strong, lightweight square aluminium tubing.
- Optional winglets extend from the front cowl sides to generate downforce at high speeds, enhancing stability.
- Lightweight 6-spoke cast aluminium wheels contribute to sporty handling and appearance.
- Bridgestone BATTLAX RACING STREET RS11 radial tyres deliver consistent grip, cornering performance, and durability across various conditions.
- Dual Brembo 4-piston radial-mount monoblock front calipers with ø320mm discs and a single rear caliper with ø220mm disc provide stable, powerful braking.
- Front brake lever features slots to reduce wind pressure effects that can cause brake drag at high speeds.
SUZUKI INTELLIGENT RIDE SYSTEM (S.I.R.S.) Features:
- Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) offers three settings to tailor power delivery to different riding conditions.
- Smart TLR Control integrates the Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) with Lift Limiter and Roll Torque Control, enabling the rider to enhance rider control across varying conditions.
- Ride-by-wire Electronic Throttle System gives greater controllability over the engine and helps harness that power effectively.
- Bi-directional quick shift system enables smooth, clutchless upshifts and downshifts for seamless performance.
- Motion Track Brake System modulates brake pressure during cornering to help maintain line control.
- Slope Dependent Control adjusts ABS braking stability based on bike posture and downhill grade to prevent rear-wheel lift.
- Suzuki Easy Start System starts the engine with just one quick press of the starter button
- Low RPM Assist makes pulling away from a standing start even smoother and easier
Electric Equipment Features:
- A new lightweight Lithium-ion battery offers increased stability and reduced weight.
- LCD multifunction instrument panel provides clear, quick access to tachometer, speedometer, and other vital info.
- Narrow, high-illumination LED headlight enhances the bike’s aggressive design.
- LED tail and brake lights utilise a vertical layout for a sharp, slim profile.
- Bright, sharp LED turn signals add to the modern aesthetic.
Styling Features:
- Available in three colour schemes celebrating the GSX-R’s 40th anniversary, inspired by iconic liveries from previous generations.
- 40th anniversary logos, new graphics reminiscent of the original GSX-R, and bold stripes add a sporty, aggressive look.
- Sleek, narrow, and compact bodywork with minimal frontal area maximises aerodynamics.
- Designed with a contoured fuel tank top that allows riders to tuck in tightly during high-speed runs on the racetrack.
